Indian Coffee had its beginning in the seventeenth century and was believed to be brought to India by the Saint Baba Budan from the Middle East.
Since then, the Coffee grew as a Culture in the Westen Ghats from Bababudan Giri hills of Chikmagalur to Balehonnur, Mudigere to Sakleshpur, Coorg in Karnataka, Anamalais, Pulneys, Bodinayakanur in Tamil Nadu, Waynad in Kerala, and even in Eastern Ghats at Ananthagiri Hills of Andhra Pradhesh, and in Non-traditional areas such as Koratpur in Orissa, North eastern states at Assam.
Indian Coffees are shade-grown, intercropping with pepper, oranges, with intrinsic taste, spicy in some areas, citric in some, and hence distinctively placed in the World of Coffee.
